TECDE — The Entrepreneurs' Club / Des Entrepreneurs ("TECDE", "we", "us", or "our") is a student-run organization affiliated with the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, located at 55 Laurier Avenue East, Ottawa, Ontario K1N 6N5.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it through our website forms. This may include:

  • Membership applications: first and last name, uOttawa email address, student number, program and year of study, LinkedIn profile URL, and responses to application questions.
  • Team applications: first and last name, email address, program and year of study, role preferences, and responses to application questions.
  • Sponsorship inquiries: contact name, organization name, email address, phone number, and message content.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: email address.
  • General contact: name, email address, and message content.

We do not collect sensitive personal information (such as financial data, health information, or government identification numbers) through this website.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information you provide solely for the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Processing and evaluating membership and team applications.
  • Communicating with you about your application status, TECDE events, and club activities.
  • Responding to sponsorship inquiries and coordinating partnership arrangements.
  • Sending newsletters and event announcements to subscribers.
  • Responding to general inquiries submitted through our contact form.

We will not use your personal information for any purpose other than those listed above without your prior consent.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your information is accessible only to current TECDE executive team members who require it to fulfill the purposes described above.

Form submissions are routed to and stored by our internal communications platform. Notification emails are sent to [email protected], which is accessible only to authorized TECDE executives.

We may disclose personal information if required by law or in response to a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TECDE, its members, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law. Specifically:

  • Application data is retained for the duration of the current academic year and deleted at the end of each executive term transition.
  • Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Sponsorship and general inquiry data is retained for up to one year after the inquiry is resolved.

6. Cookies and Tracking

Our website does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics services that collect personal information. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tools on this site.

Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be retained temporarily by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used to identify individual visitors.

7. External Links

Our website contains links to external platforms including evelya.co (event ticketing), Instagram, and LinkedIn. These sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their policies before submitting personal information.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
